Dirty carpet 2005 Chevrolet Impala passenger side rear

The carpet has a dirt stain that keeps growing! No one has sat there in years,
and I haven't spilled anything back there, but this stain will not go away. I did
find the rubber gasket under the rain cowl was mostly off, put it back on. The
floor board is not WET. Just this mystery dirt that grows from the size of a
small spot to almost covering the floor board there!! Anyone else have this
problem?

I wonder if it could be a mold growing. Try some carpet shampoo and give it a good cleaning. Also make sure you inspect underneath the carpet for moisture as it needs to be dry under the carpet.

Thanks Bob...it is dry, and doesn't smell, I am wondering if it is rust dust working it's way inside? The under body is 15 years Iowa conditions...? I will try using carpet cleaner and the shop vac on it...spot treating didn't touch it.
