about 2 pair of tires from different brands (same 2 on rear and 2 on front)

Asked by mbansal Mar 16, 2007 at 08:20 PM about the 1995 Toyota Tercel 2 Dr DX Coupe

Question type: General

I am wondering if I install 2 different pair of tires (different brands) with same size say 155/80-13 but on the rear and the front of the vehicle. Will this effect a lot on the drivability and control of the car. The car is supposed to run on snow as well as in summer too.

Thanks in advance

Dear mbansal-- When installing two new tires on your 1995 Toyota Tercel, or any other car, you should try to match them with the existing tires as much as possible. According to www.tirerack.com, "if two of your tires have a lot of remaining tread depth, but you need to replace the other two because they were damaged or have worn out, you should replace them with a pair of tires that come as close as possible to matching your existing tires." For a complete tutorial, go to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=31. Good luck from Bovan.
