Where is the diagnostic port on a 2003 Mercedes S500?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have looked under the dash on the driver's side of the S500 but I only see a solid panel. I can usually find
the computer diagnostic plug near the steering wheel column. Can anyone please tell me where it is
located on this year and model?
Thanks

Look into the leg-space beneath the steering wheel. There, you will find a 16 pin-receiving computer outlet. This Data Link Connector accommodates scanners for all diagnostic systems. However, this outlet's location depends on the year and model of the Mercedes in question. For most vehicles, it will be under the dash and to the left or right of the steering column. In some models, it will be behind an access panel, and in others, it will be out in the open.

On my 2003 S500 4 Matic, it is just to the right of the hood release on the footwell just above your left knee. It is behind a black plastic cover and is vertical in orientation. Good Luck!

Just to the right of the emergency brake foot pedal, but at the top of the arm where it recedes into the footwell.
