I was getting up to 28 and 30mpg highway, but I had alot of work done to mine. the amazing part is those mpg's were recorded with an average speed of 85 mph and a top speed of 125mph. before the work was done I was seeing an overall average of about 16mpg. Remember, I'm not an economical driver.

My 1999 six spped with 7.3 PS gets just a bit over 20 mpg. Stock, except for 18 inch wheels instead of stock 16's. This is gps measured and hand calculated.

My '01 super cab with a short bed gets 24 hwy (75mph) and 18 city. Best way to improve mileage is to let them breath!!! K&N intake - Gibson dual 4" pipes

i bet youd get better performance with a better intake than K&N. they are drastically overrated.

You're probably right but in '01 it was the best around and it's given many years of good service. I've looked at other intake systems and they all seem to use the same basic principal so I've never had a good reason to change it. I'm happy with the mileage and performance results and hope to improve them with a new chip soon. Thnx for the feed back.

Most of these seem like BS have a Banks for trying to exhaust and intake you were other things but that's about it 99 extended cab 6 foot bed 7.3 I get about 19 on the highway @ 65 and about 13 Towing 14,000lbs synthetic everything down to the rear end all Amsoil. The guy claiming 29 I really want to know how I top it off so I get accurate mileage calculated takes about 15 minutes to top it off without the diesel bubbling!
