Ford F350 6L loss of power and idles very rough. Loss of power while driving to the point I put it in neutral and revved the engine and put it back in drive to move. From stop it wants to die.
I have a 2004 F350 6L diesel. It's idling rough like its missing. From a stop it does
not want to move even with the pedal to the floor. Pedal to the floor it does not rev
up unless its in neutral but at times even with being in neutral it dies and is hard to
start for a while. Now and then it will seem to act right by revving up but will
continue the rough idle and low power. Suspect fuel filter but no engine lights at all.
Ford replaced the turbo in 2006 under warranty at 50K miles. Now has 106K. Fuel
filter has not been replaced that I can recall but has had oil changes regularly and
checkups. Started acting up on the way home and it was warm on the 8 mile drive.
Let cool and much later took it to get food. Made it about a mile when all heck
broke loose and was loosing power like it was slipping torque converter. Barely
made it up a small hill and on the way down it did better but at a red light it was
barely idling and then on getting green light it moved like a turtle and engine would
not rev to the point it died. Had trouble starting and barely made it home. Need
some assist before the Ford dealer sees it. Suspect it (hope) its the fuel filters as I
think its still the original or was changed in 2006 when the turbo stuck on me (highly
likely just don't recall). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
