always unplug your battery before working on electrical parts of your vehicle to prevent damage to the computer... try checking your fuses if you find a blown fuse replace it even check the ones under your hood. if that dosnt bring back any luck the obd2 port goes straight to ur computer and possibly could have killed it by shorting it out. try removing the negative post from the battery and let the vehicle sit for 10-15 mins then plug it back in

@Js08016, when you say "under the dash", where will I be looking for the fuse? And is this a fuse other than the ones on side of dash by doors? @Kintarroprince, going down to unplug now. The only fuse that originally blew was Body Function Control Module/Instrument Panel Cluster. Odd thing, even after it had blew, I was still able to start car and drive home from grocery. Once home, tried to start and nothing.

@Js08016, I see it here in manual. It's on drivers side panel. I'll check it asap. Thanks for any and all help. I know it's something, well....not super hard. I just can't figure it out. And it's my Pops car, so he's being an "donkey". I've got a multimeter and test light, but no. He thinks he knows it all. Maybe I should just let him waste his money at a shop. I swear!

One last thing, I forgot to mention. The scanner won't power up when plugged in now also. Could I of fried the OBD? But the instrument panel out? Oh, brake lights are out too. Pulling my hair out.

the computer is what the obd scanner reads. If the fuse to the PCM/ECM is blown..your computer would not have any power which would include the obd port. The fuse that blew would cause issues for sure..there should be a few fuses under the hood in a fuse box also..as far a brake lights..if you step on the pedal with key on engine off do they light off or is the whole car dark?

Whole car is dark. If is check fuses, under the hood with test light, do I want key in ignition? Reason askin, gave him the key back and he's being a Richard, if u know what I mean.

Working: power windows, heater fan (but a/c doesn't) power rear view mirrors, horn, not sure about headlights. When key is in on position the engine symbol illuminates. Not working: gauges on dash, trunk release, power locks. Not sure about blinkers and headlights.

Hazards not, and clock on radio only lights up when trying to start the car, not just when in on position with key.

The fuses are the colorful ones that are red yellow blue and clear...if you pull one out and inspect it you should see either a black spot on the fuse or the fuse not being 1peice..if ur doing a test light on the fuses you would be checking the part the fuse goes into. You want to check the colorful plastic fuses. If you think the fuses is bad replace it with a new one..I prefer to use the fuses that light up when they blow way easier to find them when they go

More importantly check this fuse THE HVAC CTRL/BATT FUSE IN THE BCM FUSE BOX ON RIGHT SIDE OF CONSOLE. SLIDE PASSENGER SEAT BACK, REMOVE COVER BY PULLING AT FINGER HOLES IN FRONT, READ THE FUSE MAP ON THE BACK OF THE COVER TO FIND THE FUSE. IT IS 10A.

Sometimes the OBD fuse and the cigarette lighter / power port fuse is the same one. You can not always tell if a fuse is good simply by looking at it. Use a test light or measure the continuity of the fuses with an ohm meter.
