attach a vacuum tool (you know sucks with a cylinder) and activate...see where the vacuum is leaking~ or if it simply does not work...and is jammed~?
Did that at Ford Dealer and all they said was the seal was bad...didn't say whether it was the inner and outer seal or the pinion seal?
Any more thoughts on this problem? I can get the truck to go into 4wd but it doesn't lock the front wheels in but the front drive shaft turns, like itnis loosing Vacuum? Inner and out seal bad? Vacuum hoses bad? Need help
well if you know Where the leaks are...gotta replace the leakin' equipment can research what you need for the job...aka seal puller...you know unsavory and perhaps unhealthy as it sounds..and you didn't hear this here...the "smoke test" where cigarette or any type of smoke is puffed into the connection and where the smoke ends up is the place~ your automotive shop aka NAPA, will loan you the tools free of charge...if you shop there~
Thx bob...will try this! Any thoughts tho on what could or might be the problem?
clearly the actuator tubing (that bounces up and down and catches a branch or leaf every now and then) is split due to UV and out-gassing and needs to be updated with flourothene type~ or whatever synthetic replace ole coal-tar eraser with carbon type equipment~ and with smoke...(have the kid who's smokin' marlboros say "hey puff smoke into this pipe") and he'll be happy that you approve of his smoking habit~...(just kidding) or your rapidly increasing TEMPER causing smoke~ just replace what you can clearly see is leaking~ wish you all the best~
