Radiator is making a boiling sound
Asked by TiffanyJ56 May 09, 2017 at 06:30 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS RWD
Question type: General
We have a 03 4wd trail blazer
He just put in a a compressor bc the air has been
out for about 1 to 2 year's
After fussing with him to get it fixed he finally did
but he got home today after driving the car for
about an hour I just walked passed it and heard a
bubbling or boiling sound and so i asked him if he
ran it hot he said no but he must've not been
paying attention
Besides I thought any car only did that when it over
heats so please help me figure this little mystery
Tnks in advance Tiffany

first check fluid levels.. then leaks then thermostate if not elect.fans check the clutch fan...
Maybe the coolant has too much water and not enough anti-freeze. I would do full cooling system maintenance - flush, new hoses, thermostat and coolant. Install 50/50 antifreeze and water unless you live where it is really cold in which case you need more anti- freeze and less water.

Thanks guys I'll most definitely let him know and greatly appreciated the feed back..
2 tips above are good too, in addition..Our I6 engines will bubble or gurgle when there is air in the system too. Take top off overflow tank and run it til it gets hot to get all air out. A better method, is to jack up front passenger tire, take the top radiator hose off and let it bubble the air out of there too.
Fan clutch bad, if overheating, turn off air conditioner, to get you home mechanic.
