I I have a 1994 F150 that when I started it up today it started slamming into gear and running bad.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a 1999 Ford Explorer that did something similar and I put it on a code reader and then replaced the throttle sensor and that fixed it. I'm told that I can't put a code reader on this truck because it's too old? Does the 1994 F150 5.8L have that same type of sensor and if so could that be it?
