They are relatively inexpensive so I would just replace it. Yes you can bypass it but that would not be safe at all. Bypassing safety features gets people killed. Could you live with yourself if a small child turned the key in your truck and ran over one of their friends? Please just replace it.
DO NOT DEFEAT SAFETY DEVICES!
Now a good idea at all. Back in the 60's police departments were transitioning from standard, on the column three speeds, to automatics. For the old timers it wasn't to difficult as we were always looking for the clutch when we entered the car. The newer officers had the problem. If they were use to driving the automatics, when they got into an older standard, they would be piling into parking lot walls or the vehicle parked in front. Purchase the safety switch.
I think that switch is just another idiot device. Never heard of such problems before they existed. If you tried to start the vehicle in gear, it just jumped a little and you quit, not just keep cranking the thing???? These are for Dr. Spock people.

its not unsafe to bypass it, just dont be a dumbass, ive had mine bypassed for years now no problems, i know not to start the truck in gear, you just gotta have common sense
Can someone show us how to bypass the safety switch and wire it straight. There's a six pin connector attached to the clutch position safety switch, is it possible to straight wire it?
