1996 f 150 w/5.0 put in new coil only last about a day and goes out. What do I check

I have put 3 coils on this truck same thing starts runs good for about a day then goes out
has new relay and new E.C.M

The module on the side of the distributor directly controls the coil. In your system (EEC-IV), the TFI module can fail and keep power to the coil constantly, burning it up.

the ignition control module has a short in it. trust me replace it then you wont have no issues anymore

That's what I said. There's a Schmidt Switch and a Darlington Amplifier in the module that runs a near 99% dwell on the coil anyway. It overheats the module and the coil. Ford didn't address this concern until the early 90's when they came out with a black TFI module that had an 8-bit microprocessor in it to keep coil saturation to less than 10 milliseconds. Just a little more than enough to saturate and fire the coil.
