Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the leaking fuel tank assembly in my truck today. All went well and I had to replace the tank pressure valve assembly due to it snapped off when removing it from old tank. I also replaced the old filler tube assembly with a new old. Got everything all connected and hooked up in truck, and filled tank to about a 1/4 tank of gas, connected the power cables to the battery and tried to start the engine, but it only cranks with the starter but won't run. I sprayed starter fluid into the intake and it will fire and run until the starter fluid is burned off then stops.

I did use the old fuel pump sending unit from the old tank since it was working fine when removed, and only replaced the fuel tank and filler tube since the main fuel tank was leaking fuel in a few rusted places. I did also check all fuse and relays for power and all check out good.

I am thinking now the old fuel pump sending has gone bad from being removed and re- installed in the new tank.

I did replace and installed new fuel line connections at the fuel pump lines since the old ones snapped or broke off during removal, and installed new vaccum lines also at the front and rear vent tubes on the new tank.
