for the life of me i cant figure this truck out! (Cant get it to start)

Asked by Jerome Jul 02, 2019 at 08:31 AM about the 1998 Ford F-150 XLT SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck ran great when i bought it (used with 148,xxx). I put approx 600 miles on
it before i noticed the temp gauge rising. i replaced the thermostat and coolant
and took it on the highway. after about 10 mins gauge went from normal to hot.
i pulled over and there was an orange sludge everywhere. i assumed there was
stop leak added at some point. let it cool and drove home (approx. 3 miles) ive
not driven it since. through process of elimination and cargurus. i deducted that
a tranny cooler was the problem. got that squared away and flushed the
radiator and block. i started my truck and let it run for about 10 mins and shut it
off. i tried to start it the following morning and it acted like the battery was
dead. just not wanting to start. nope not the problem. went and bought new
starter and still nada. is my truck hydrolocked and what do i do? new motor?

You may need new motor, with water in the head you could have bent a cylinder rod or two. Sounds like you have leak stop thru out the engine not letting water flow in the engine.
