fob doesn't work. Starts but dies after 2-3 seconds. Anti Theft light on

2002 Malibu, 3.1L. Car been sitting for a week, FOB wouldn't unlock doors.
Opened w/key, would start, run few seconds and quit. Interior door locks quit
also. Anti Theft light on. Red light comes on under fuel gauge each time after  
it kills. (has plenty fuel).  Tried Theft reset method mentioned in another post(
key in drivers door,lock,unlock, back to center) several times. No change.

Just had the same problem. Change your ignition cylinder and you shouldn't have any problems

Best theft system reset method that works everytime for me: 1. Turn car "on" without turning it over. 2. Wait (usually) 10 mins or less for theft light to stop flashing. 3. Start car.
