Rear passenger door water leaks

Asked by rancenorris Jun 26, 2011 at 12:12 AM about the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am getting rain water inside the door kick of the the rear passenger door.  This is saturating the floor carpet along the inside of the door.  The weatherstripping is in good shape and I see no evidence of where the leak is coming from.  Also, we do not have a sunroof so it is not coming from there.  Any ideas on where this water could be coming from?

We are having the same problem however, it is seeping into the drivers side. Please let me know if you've been successful in getting a refund. We have had it fixed 3 times. Same problem and now putting a lawsuit on GM.

I lost a sale of my 2010 GMC Yukon because of water sloshing around in the rear passenger door. Other than possible dry door seals, I found an area at the top forward corner of the door where the 2 skins are welded, a gap in the seam. I will attempt top fill that tiny gap with clear silicon. There is no drainage hole at the bottom of the door (as some forums have mentioned), so I drilled one. Water may enter the door, but it should drain right out. I will check it frequently.
