The fuel pump comes out as an assembly through the top of the tank. I have thought about cutting through the bed in the past but the fuel pump access is usually right under some structural bracing for the bed. not worth making a mess of the bed. I have taken all the bed mounting bolts out and disconnected the tail light harnesses, grabbed a couple friends and lifted the bed up and moved it back far enough to work on the fuel pump.
