2006 Ford F-150 hesitates to accelerate in high heat weather

Asked by Leah Sep 12, 2017 at 10:23 PM about the 2006 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab Styleside 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Ford F-150 4WD XLT with
about 170k miles. The truck sometimes
hesitates to accelerate but only during hot
days (we get to about 115) and while my
AC is on blast. This also sometimes results
in the truck kicking very hard in to gear
before before it begins to drive smoothly
again. Additionally, my AC basically blows
hot hair during the hot days and will only
start to cool down after the truck has been
driving at a steady speed for a long
duration of time. Red lights and traffic are
miserable! Truly hoping this isn't my
transmission going out on me! Thank you

sounds like a few issues going on. have your ac coolant checked you could be running low on freon in the system, the was the ac in your car works in it runs the freon into the compressor, it heats up and then goes to the condensor to cool back down, so airflow is the key to cooling down. the hard shifts can be caused beacuse the ac is on, when the ac is running it will bring the engine rpm up in order to deliver enough power for your fans the compressor along with just running your engine, the hesitation can be due to the engine is ready for a tune up. be sure to check your trans fluid it could be running low resulting in angry shifts
