2006 f150 4x4 question

when I put it in 4x4 it jerks hard left and clunks, I
don't know much about 4x4. could it it be the
actuators?

I believe that system works on vacuum. When it has vacuum there is no 4wd. The side that it jurks towards is most likely the side that is enguageing and the other side is portably stick.... there should be 2 vacuum lines going to each hubs try removing the hoses and see if the 4wd engages manually... but leave the switch in 2 wd so it won't leak vacuum
