Question type: Maintenance & Repair
We have a 1999 Ford F-250 we bought from one owner - he treated this truck like his child, so AFTER he bought it he had a FORD alarm system put in, checked the VIN at the dealer. Have NEW batteries and alternator, so this alarm is wired into everything. Great diesel mechanics have had it for 3 weeks. I don't care about the alarm want my truck back but this stupid alarm seems to be wired into everything electrical and they cannot figure it out any help please

Talk to the dealer that installed the alarm.
The dealer is in another state and our local Ford dealer wants 200.00 just to look at it:( It is an after market alarm made by Ford! At first we thought we hit the jackpot thinking it was aftermarket which it is BUT ITS A FORD and they wired into everything.....Thanks anyway
Diesel mechanics may be great at diesels but you are asking them to do trim work. Think of an engineer having to sew a set of curtains for you. The "Ford" add on alarm was probably made by code alarm company and re-branded. The ford accessory vendor for alarms and remote start kits has been code alarm for so long even the dealers don't know that they are selling a non ford part. Personally I'd just take it off from the ignition switch wiring and make sure that all of the factory wires are intact and connected correctly. Add on alarms are cheap to install but pricey to repair. For the same $200 that the dealer wants to look at it you could get a radio shop to remove it and fix all of the wiring that it is tied into. Usually if a vehicle comes into my shop with a older add on alarm that might be why it wont run I ask if I can PLEASE remove it so the factory wiring is all that there is to deal with. Save your money just tell them to get that thing gone and work with the parts that are supposed to be there.
