2005 Chev 3500 HD with 6.0L Vortec gas engine Low oil pressure on start

160k engine on HD Bucket van so does lots of idling.
When cold the oil pressure is only just off the peg, then as it warms up the
pressure goes up to 20idle /40 at higher RPM. I idle it for quite a while until
the engine warms and the pressure starts to come up.
I have changed the sender but if anything it got worse slightly. I use
synthetic oil at factory 5w30 (Its v/cold here) .
Weird
Anyone seen this before?

Can you see any sludge in the engine at the oil fill plug? Could be a partially clogged oil pick up screen in the oil pan. As the oil warms it flows better allowing increased oil flow through a partially clogged screen, this would bring the oil pressure up. Just a theory as it could be something entirely different..
One other thing...was there a screen under the oil sender? See post #7 at the link.....http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php? t=593635
To be honest I didn't notice a screen at all. Will have to check this. Thanks for the heads up.
Not sure if there is a screen on the 2005 models, but the 2007 models have them.
If you are in extreme cold you may want to install an engine block heater or an oil pan heater.
