What would cause my transmission to not shift past 3rd gear?

Asked by CB4x4 Jul 14, 2016 at 01:44 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Blazer drove fine earlier in the day. Then I went to leave and when I put it in
gear it jerked, then going down the road it wouldn't shift past 3rd gear. Also the
transmission fluid now looks like it is over full and burnt.

If you smell the transmission fluid and it smells burnt, your bands in the transmission are bad,you will need to have the tranny repaired or replaced.Sorry no quick fix for this.

Same thing is happening with my 2003 Chevy S10, I took it to a mechanic and they told me that the transmission gears might be slipping
