The first " lights" in your post, what lights, interior--exterior, everything? As far as your brake lamps, the high mount brake lamp and lower brake lites, are wired a little differently, the lower brake lites are wired through the multifunction switch/turn signal switch. The high mount stop lamp isn't wired that way. If high mount stop lamp doesn't work either, I'd do some testing before replacing anything. If the headlamp dimmer is on the same stalk, meaning multifunction switch, then yes, the multifunction switch can cause problems. If you want a diagram for stop lamps, I'll post it, if you think it will help?
