2001 Cavalier 'pausing' while driving?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, while I'm driving in 4th gear(OD) my car will
occasionally feel like it's slammed on the brakes
for a split second and the RPM will jump around 2-
300, and you can physically feel it and hear it. I
cannot for the life of me figure out why. Any ideas?
