There are a few issues that can cause this problem, first, window has come out of track or track is loose, second, window regulator, the mechanical portion that helps raise and lower the window may be off it's track or have binding parts or require lubrication, third, the window motor may be failing orgear is disengaging from regulator, finally, the control switch itself may have worn or faulty contacts and could cause overheating of the window motor, I would check with a self service or other salvage yard for parts and prices on these parts before going to a dealer, Most often the motor is the main cause.

I once had the same issue with a Ford truck, All I did was spray silicon in the tracks of each side of the window. Then it zipped up and down. Just a suggestion you may want to try first.
