2002 chevy s10 not starting or staying running very long

Asked by Kyle Dec 29, 2019 at 09:52 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet S-10 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2002 s10 has 201,347 miles on it and the
engine won't start and if it does it won't run for very
long and the rpms will be all over the place then it
will die, when driving the truck will hesitate bad and
stall out, misfires rough while idling or at stop
signs, engine has little to no power meaning it gets
up to speed but slowly, has problems getting up
hills, while I'm on the gas the truck will slow down
until I give it way more fuel. I lost all power going
down highway at 75 mph, pulled over and tried to
start but nothing! Replaced fuel pump it ran great
until I shut it off then it wouldn't start again.
No fuel is making it to the cylinders I've replaced
crankshaft sensor, and AC Delco fuel pump, water
pump and cooling clutch because of other issues.
I'm usually good with figuring things out but not
this one. If anyone can help me figure it out that
would be awesome..

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, If you have the spider fuel system, the pressure is 60--66 psi, key on engine off. That system is noted for problems. Next, check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes? To check codes yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader that will work with your vehicle. Note the fuel pump relay diagram, if you can pull relay, use a jumper wire between the two terminals on switch side of relay, left side in diagram, the pump should run, also note the fuse.
