Starter not working on Dodge pickup

I have a 1998 Dodge truck with a 318 engine.  There are times that the starter will not work when turning the key.  After a few tries, it finally works.  This takes spells with the starter working fine for weeks, and then the problem surfaces again.  Now I can't get it to start.  It only clicks once when I turn the key.  I know the battery is fine because it started great just a few minutes before.  Any ideas as to what it needs or what I can do?

Tried tapping on the starter and got it to crank.

I have the same problem with my 2005 Ram 2500 5.7L AT. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I checked the battery and cables, replaced the starter and starter solenoid and the problem is still there. Any other ideas?
