so you have a manual trany ? and when shifted into third gear it pops out of gear? is this correct
No ,it is automatic and when it goes into 4th gear, or overdrive, it kicks. If I put it in overdrive manually by pushing the overdrive button, at 50 mph it is smooth.otherwise it kicks in around 45 and kicks.
so your saying that you get a shudder when in overdrive put when you push the O/D button (which takes it out of overdrive) it goes away...when you take and push the button for overdrive it not only doesn't allow it to shift to fourth but it also prevents the torque converter from locking up ...and I think this is what your feeling is the clutch in the torque converter shuddering ...I checked and it does say that the torque converter will engage with the O/D button pushed but only under certain conditions ...and 45 MPH is just about when it turns on ...let me know if this helps
No, it doesn't shudder when I engage the od button at 50 mph.. It does shudder when at 45 mph and the button is already on So if I engage the overdive butto at 50 mph it is shifts smoothly.
ok ok so we have to get on the same page ...// this is how your trany works with the button pushed and the light on overdrive is off...and the trany does not shift to overdrive (fourth gear) and the torque converter locks up on certain conditions...with the button not pushed and the light off the trany is allowed to shift into overdrive and the torque converter locks up
