Anyone had this issue?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has a good battery and
alternator, and a brand new
ECM.. cranks and runs fine then
all of a sudden, sometimes
while driving down the road,
sometimes when stopped.
Suddenly cuts off. And voltage
drops to 0. Then when i try to
restart it still no voltage. I can
go under the hood and wiggle or
push the plug on the ECM and i
will have voltage again and it
will start up. I have heard ot
may be the internal voltage
regulator... if i put a new
external voltage regulator on
will it fix my problem?

This sounds more like a corroded ground connection than an ECM problem. Check and clean all the grounds

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Unplug the ECM. Use some electronic cleaner and a toothbrush to clean the plug and the terminals on the ECM. Let it dry for about a half hour then plug everything back in. Hope that helps! Jim
