Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ram 1500 question. We have an
03 3.7l v6. Check gauges light
came on and voltage gauge
dropped to nothing. 1st check we
pulled positive battery cable it
stayed running. We drove another
150 miles then every light came
on and truck died. Now when
pulling cable it dies. We had
alternator checked and they said it
was voltage regulator in the END.
We found a way to bypass the
ECM and install external voltage
reg. It still dies when pull positive
cable. Are there any other options
other than replace alternator??

I would replace the alternator and probably the battery too. Did you ever check the output voltage? Running the car with the battery disconnected is a good way to fry your electronics.
