Preventive Maintenance Kit for 2003 Ram 4.7L engine but NOT needed for 5.7L HEMI

Asked by TJonezy9 Feb 24, 2020 at 10:47 PM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ran into an experienced Ram owner who learned through hard knocks to
install some sort of maintenance kit on the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L
engine.  I forget what he called it, but it cost maybe $400 or so and it was
needed before about 150,000 miles or something bad would happen (I think
the engine would fail).  It was NOT needed for the HEMI 5.7 though.  I don't
think this was common knowledge, but he swore by it and had 100% bad
luck when he didn't do it, and 100% good luck when he did.  Can anyone tell
me what this kit is?  Thanks for the help!
