Posted this and forgot to add the question I have an 04 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi it has a collapsed lifter so heads are coming off as long as there is no damage do the valves and or springs need replaced.

Only #1 cylinder on the intake side is affected I have already replaced the push rods and the rocker arms after a test run to make sure all valves are moving have about 1/4" of play between the #1 intake rocker arm and the valve

Need to verify that the lobe on the cam is not worn, and look at the valve spring, check that it is not broke. Taking the lifter out, you should see if it is collapsed or not. I would check the lift on the cam lobe first, and check valve spring before tearing into it.

Depending on how many miles are on the car it might be a good time to freshen up the heads with a valve job, new valve seals and maybe springs. A machinist can check the heads to make sure they are flat and straight and can check the valve springs to make sure they are in spec. Like Rowe says - check the cam too.

Heads have to come off to check lifters when new items where first installed everything was tight with no excessive play wasn't until it turns over that the issue appears was going to have heads checked once removed. Valve springs are all currently in good working order is not cracked or broken. And cam is a will check as soon as heads are off to access lifters
