How to change the spark plugs?

Asked by Theron Jul 14, 2007 at 11:45 PM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 1500 ST Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How to change the spark plugs.

I have never changed the plugs, on a motor like this one.
I have changed 100's of plugs in the past years, but i'm not sure
how, with the coil pack on each plug.

Please!

Inform.

The coil pack serves as a plug wire. Remove the connector from the top of the coil pack. Remove the bolt that holds the coil pack into the engine and lift it out. You will see that it is basically a long hard plastic spark plug tube. Insert a spark plug wrench with extension and remove the plug.

I am new to this forum and I have a question. I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. Today I was attempting to change the plugs on this truck. I am finding that it will take some special tools to get to the middle and back plugs because the brake cylinder is in the way. How do I get around that issue? Sam
