Why won't truck crank

It started skipping at 70 mph I had test ran it showed I
needed a EGR valve so I replaced it then it got worse it  
started skipping at 50 mph an now it will not crank

Sounds like the EGR wasn't the problem , cranking is the starter turning the motor over , not when it's running so is it turning over and not starting ?. What do the plugs look like ? The clerk at auto zoo is not a technician , they are there to sell parts . The scanner may have a " snap shot " feature of what driving conditions the code is put up , that may help .
