2006 Dodge Cummins water pump metal parts in antifreeze

Asked by Noel Jul 14, 2018 at 06:38 PM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 2500 SLT Mega Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Dodge Cummins. The water pump failed and some of the
metal from the pump ended up in the antifreeze. I thought I had gotten all of
the metal pieces out, but when I installed a new waterpump, it worked for
about 10 minutes before the new one failed. I believe it's because some left
over metal pieces from the old pump did something to the new pump. How
can I clean out the metal pieces from the antifreeze?

I would do a power flush. You can buy kits at any auto parts store.
