Is it normal for the BACK wheels to spin on a front wheel drive 2003 camry when you take off on slick pavement? Also, what type of oil should I be using?

Hello, Slippery road conditions can have odd effects on cars. If they are spinning, it is likely because they are already moving. Only the front wheels will move as a result of applying the gas. CarGrrl

There should be no reason for the back wheels to Spin on a front wheel drive car...are they spinning or sliding? I could see if the emergency brake was on or stuck they might SLIDE but there is nothing driving the real wheels, they just roll along with the car like a trailer. Toyota recommends using 10w30 (or 5w30 if it is very cold) any good name brand will do.
Womandriver I also own a 2003 camry. Be careful because the back end does seem to want to slide out. I have also had this problem and I have good tires. The oil recommended for your car is 5w30. You can check this under your hood on stickers located on the front rail.
