ADD: The battery died so I have a new battery now - the windows / locks etc all work with the remote
Try removing your positive cable for a few minute,s,may reset your ecm,all so is there any anti theft light,s on?
Did that already - lights are ok no anti theft
If no light,s, may need to check the starter as you said.
there is no clicking or trying to crank/start - its just dead nothing happens when you try turning the key
One other question?Has your car battery been weak? This can cause your ecm to loose key memory,
I was travelling got back batt was dead - which I replaced recently with a new one and now this
the first time i tried jumping which did the same - nothing happened so i replaced the batt
Thats, it sorry to say this but the only thing you can do is have a mercede,s dealer flash your ecm back to your keys,
Weak battery,s do this to mercede,s ,
Seriously? i can still lock/unlock the car with the remote also can open the Steering lock
Yes key has chip in it,mercede,s did not think about the battery problem fix until 2007,
When battery died ,ecm lost it,s memmory of your key,s.
hmm - Im trying to find if I can confirm what your saying
Well i should know,i own a 1999 c230,it happen to me twice all ready. And not to add i mechanic on all type,s every day, check it out, then go gety our ecm flashed and you will be riding again.
how much to flash the ECU - can I just take the ECU out give them my key along the VIN
Sorry to say but it has to be in car,and it cost me 350 to have it done, but that said, all way,s buy a good brand battery such as interstate to keep from having this happen agian,,,Good luck with it.
It ,s is a shame mercede,s waited till 2007 to fix this,i feel forya..
Try it,but i think not,your ecm,has lost it,s mind,you have to deal with it.
Will this work? 1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position. 2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds. 3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal. 4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
Did you ever find a solution for this problem. Please help
My 2004 e500 is doing the same. Data from the ECM via a i980 scanner says it’s imobilized. I tried the above reset with no success. I wish they made house calls with the “star system”
