Change it about once a year or every 10,000 miles, which ever comes first and no, it doesn't have to be done at a dealership. Any garage can do it so take it to one you know and trust. Mercedes service stamps look good to prospective buyers when you come to sell the car but that's about all its worth. In reality anyone looking to buy a second hand car is just glad to see that's its been serviced at the correct intervals.

Assuming the cars history has been on Full Synthetic - such as Mobil 1 or similar - it is best if you do not change to a Synthetic Blend just to save some money on oil changes.
