I know synthetic oil is needed, can a regular place use the proper filter replacement etc?

Any garage can do a service on your Mercedes and they'll drain the oil from the bottom of the engine whereas a dealership sucks it out from the top. Local garage will be a fraction of the price too. Win win all round.

Lots of garages and some dealers have oil change specials - except Mercedes Dealers. Just stick with any name brand full synthetic and you will be fine.

Any synthetic oil will do because these are all the same except price. Any car repair shop can change the oil, even you can do it yourself if you don't mind getting greasy. I have mercedes for 40 years, but never took to dealer for oil change.
