I have a 2004 Mercedes 320 CLK , the battery died , AAA came out replaced the battery
everything works but it will not crank over, prior to this happening a tail light was replaced

The computer needs to be re-programed after changing or disconnecting the battery.
Do you have to reprogram every time you change battery?
I'd check with the MBZ service writers to answer that question. MBZ along with other manufactures constantly upgrade the electronic systems in their vehicles, and depending on what system is in your make and model, it may need to be reprogramed. They can tell you how to do it. It is very simple to do and takes a few minutes.
