help... my soft top on my clk320 will go up but wont latch.. if i mess with it for aewhile i can get it to latch

so the top wont latch all other operations are fine, but if i put it down and back up a few times
i can get it to latch...what could be causing this.cuz it drives me crazy

a couple of sprays of tri-flow on all the joints, moving and sliding pieces after shop vac-ing any debris from the recepticle should put things right!
