It sound like it needs the code to operate, if i remember correctly the code is usally on a card in the owners manual or you can get it from the dealer.
Did you replace the battery lately or did it go dead? If so your radio is in anti theft mode. Michael is right. You will need the radio code.
I can get AUDIO with four dashes under it on the screen, but that's it. It's like the thing is dead. It was working great before.;
