I have an identical issue... I was out last night and my altinator went out so i replaced it... I started it up and drove to auto zone and my fule pump cut out then picked back up then the car died i replaced the fuel pump and sprayed brake cleaner in the intake because it works the same as starting fluid and it cranks but WILL NOT START. so i checked the rotor checked for spark and both were good... I also changed the fuse but not the relay i put plugs in 2 weeks ago... I need help before i send it to scrap yard

My car has a alarm that if the battery went dead it would not start my car I took out the alarm and bypassed and now I have a toggle button my car will crank but not start the battery was completely dead .I'm chargen my battery my thought is since my battery was dead for 3 days it might have drained the power on my alternator if I have a fully charged battery and get a jump start will my car run

So has anybody figured out this issue on any of the cars? I have a 2002 Gt. 1.8 L and I'm having troubles strating it everyday now for 3 weeks. After the 3rd try, it starts, revs high then idles back down to the norm. As I press the throttle, it hesitates and the power is just not there anymore. The gas is running lean and misfires are taken place. I've replaced so many parts on this car and I'm still in the same position. Am I wasting time trying to find the issue along with money or is it possibly something dumb and I'm over looking? Help is needed before I sell it to another Celica fanatic.

Me to! I got a 94 celica st. with 197k miles. cleaned the throttle body, new plugs, new distributor assembly with cap & rotor, new alternator, New air filter, new fuel filter, pcv valve. It starts up when warm no problem. Early morning, 4 am, it just cranks or on 1st turn, it'll start & only run 3 seconds then cut off then nothing but crank as if it's starving for fuel. It would be cheaper to buy a new car than replace every sensor & filter just to have it keep doing it.

Check the fuel pump relay in the fuse box. I’d check al fuses before moving to next step.

First off, id do a compression check on all four cyl. If you have good compression, then your either missing inj pulse or spark. Check for spark next or spray throttle body with starting fluid. If it starts and dies then you have an inj problem. Meaning they are not injecting, not necessarily they are bad, rather they may not be getting signal to fire. Also check for spark at every coil with an old plug grounded to cyl head. one of these is either missing. Just have to figure out which one. If it no spark, could be your crank sensor, no inj pulse check cam sensor. Also pulse for sprk at coils is same as inj pulse signal .
