I have a 96 Jetta. It turns over but wont start. I changed alternator and stater. Don't know
what is wrong with it i thought my alarm systems kill switch had something to do to it but
i found out my car does not have one. Right now the battery is completely dead but im
going to charge it today. I have no idea whta is wrong hoping it isnt something electrical
but Does anyoe know what the problem can be?

Well first place to start with any engine problem is checking for spark. (1.)Pull your plugs set them near someing metal and go crank the key and watch for a spark. if there is none replace the plugs and try again. if there is still no spark replace the coil pack as its the most likely culprit now. (2) Check for fuel While you been turning the key checking for spark can you smell fuel from all four cyclinders? if not there is a fuel issue. If yes then fuel is not a problem. (3) next move on to air. Is your filter and maf (mass airflow sensor) super dirty or broken? if yes replace them or clean them. (4) is there a leak with the vacuum system? check all the vacuum lines and replace any suspected worn or broken lines as you go. on the v6 modals a line tends to break that wraps around the oil lid. Try doing all this first then get back to us if you don't find anything wrong with those things.
Going to get my car running Saturday(hopefully) i will run these diagnostics in respective order thanks. I'll let you know what happens.

Hi i have a jetta 2 got spark and everything checkd bt still wont start any ideas
Hey guys! The solution to my Jetta was the ignition switch. I took the jetta to like 3 mechanics and ended up having the dealership in my city look at it. Took them a while but they finally found it. It WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH!! I don't know how it stumped so many mechanics, but it did. Might be worth testing that. Cheers
