Car dies at intersection and now wont start just turns over

My 97 vw jetta died at a intersection
and now wont start it cranks over but
wont start.i chkd all the fuses under the
dash.the fuse for the fuelpump its good
but when i chk it with a test light it
doesnt light up

Taking a shot in the dark here, but it may be your inertia switch. It shuts the fuel system down after being in a jolt. I believe it is located in the trunk, on the left side as you face the trunk, up in that area. It is going to be red in color. Give that a shot.
