Where is the alarm on a 1999 jetta

It might depend on if its a 1999 original or new jetta....if its same body style as 94-99 then its a black box located behind the headlight switch. if you pop off the ABS warning light to the left of the headlight switch..then pop out the headlight switch , it will be behind that bolted with either a 10 mm nut/bolt or its a phillips head screw. The alarm box will have 2 wiring harnesses. Hope this helps....if yours is defective and car wont start you can unplug harnesses and jump 2 bigger red wires in one of the harnesses to bypass.
