Theres many things that can cause a check engine light. You can stop by any autozone or local garage and they can pull the code for you to give you a better idea as to what might be causing it

it means get yoo arse to a shop and have it checked it before something bad happens. Do not go to any local auto-zone or joe blow shop. They can only read the obd codes in vw's. Find a local Vw/Audi Specialist ask them if they have rosstech scanning software if its a European specialist shop and have them scan it for you.
