2000 jetta running on half cylinders

My 2000 jetta VR6 out of no where started running supper rough. No power.
Seems to be running on half of the cylinders. Any idea what is the problem

This car is older and probably has a lot of miles on it so I suspect the timing belt may have jumped a cog or two and may even break, causing engine damage. Have the belt checked out. There is an inspection port under the crankshaft pulley to view the condition of the belt running or stopped. If it looks like a dog chewed on it, have it replaced. Scan for fault codes too. Your valve timing is out of whack causing power loss.
