what causes a clicking noise after installing a booster?

i was finishing up installing the booster before reattaching the master cylinder
on my 1999 chevy tahoe when i accidentally depressed the brake pedal and
now i hear a clicking sound from the under the dash and the tahoe won't start.
Any idea what it might be?
