Tail pipe dark smoke

hello

When I hit the gas pedal a cloud of dark smoke comes out of the tail pipe.  Is this normal or is something wrong?  If so what might be causing this problem>

your air/ fuel mixture is too fat, meaning there is more gas than air. try leaning out the carbs a liitle bit by gradually going down a size

What color is the smoke. Does it look a little blueish or is it black

Crap just realized you're talking about a diesel, likely just particulate exhaust. I don't think they have a particle filter on beetles so that would be my guess...

I need help this is not the answer to question my own to how to post a question I bought a 02 bug from a guy who fear and grey didn't smoke nothing now that I'm home and it's running on a regular I got nothing but white smoke coming out of my tailpipe what running and I like to know what that is
