Can I replace all 4 x 17" rims on my 2003 beetle with cheap 16" alloy rims.

Asked by Beetle123 Feb 29, 2016 at 06:44 AM about the 2003 Volkswagen Beetle GL 1.8T

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a second hand 2003 beetle but one of they wheels is badly damaged. The rims are not the original beetle rims but alloys with the beetle sign stuck on the wheels. They are 17" rims and I cannot get one rim to replace this unless I pay for a new beetle rim which will be very costly. Can I buy cheap set (4) of 16" alloys rims and replace all 4 wheels? What are the problems in doing this, and what questions would I need to ask a garage about the bolts etc so I can get the right wheels for cheap? I cannot find cheap 17" rims anywhere. I am in Ireland
